Mercury Monitoring in Emissions

Ecotech supplies a wide range of mercury monitors for applications which include ambient air monitoring, process monitoring and emissions monitoring. We are distributors of mercury monitors from Opsis (Sweden), Arizona Instrument (USA) and Mercury Instruments (Germany).

Each company offers a unique solution designed to solve individual applications.

Ecotech is Australia's only total gaseous mercury calibration facility, Calibrating insturments from  10μg/m3 to 150μg/m3 with and true accuracy of 1.4%. Ecotech is able to calibrate a wide variety of mercury instruments, from hand held sensors to full analytical bench top instruments. Ecotech's mercury calibrations are N.I.S.T. traceable.

Mercury Emission Monitor

For continuous monitoring of mercury emissions, the Mercury Emission Monitor provides an ideal solution at power plants, waste incinerators or at any industry that requires continuous mercury measurement.

It is a completely “dry” system. It does not utilize any types of liquids in the process. It includes a thermocatalytic converter that transforms the oxidized forms, reactive gaseous mercury (RGM), to elementary mercury. In this mode a true measurement of total gaseous mercury (TGM) is provided.

The solution employs dilution extractive technology to extract a small sample of stack gas. Due to the small volume extracted, the sampling system can operate over extended periods of time with a minimum of maintenance required.

The diluted sample of stack gas is measured by a cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometer (CVAA) mercury instrument. The instrument is pre-concentrating the sample on a gold trap before the mercury vapour is measured in the spectrometer.

The pre-concentration function allows extremely low levels of mercury to be detected.
